What is the mission of Praise In The Park Iowa?
Celebrating and sharing the Good News of Salvation through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to youth and adults in Eastern Iowa through music and fellowship. We are constantly praying and considering how we can extend this event to reach out to others – especially to youth and to those who have not yet heard the Good News. If God has laid it on your heart to share an idea that would help further this mission please contact us by filling out the Contact Us form.
I just donated how come the amount on the donations page did not chage?
The donations page is updated manually by our volunteer webmaster – typically on a daily basis. Thank you for supporting this mission.
Why Feed the 5,000 – what does that mean?
As we prayerfully considered this mission, we started with no funds, no organization, no place to hold the event and nothing more than a desire to please God and spread the Good News. Our vision was to provide a venue in which people can be fed spiritually that is primarily staffed and run by Christian volunteers, and that has the possiblity to reach out to those who may not even have heard of Jesus Christ. We considered the story of how Jesus fed the 5,000 with just an empty basket and a small contribution given in faith. The Spiritual food of God satisfies for eternity, and our prayer is that through donations this mission can pay for the event this year and use ticket sales to “pay forward” so that this event can continue into the future – to Feed the 5,000 the spiritual food of God’s Love and Grace this year and beyond!
What about the Food Drive is that part of Feed the 5,000?
Not only has God called on us to feed the hungry spiritually but also physically. People don’t care what you know until they know that you care is a saying that is often repeated – and true. Though our primary vision of mission in hosting this event is to feed people spiritually, we always want to answer God’s call to reach out to others in compassion and love. If this event can not only Spiritually feed the attendees, but also through the generousity of God’s people, feed the hungry then all we can say is, “God is Good – All The Time!”
Who is Freed From Sin Ministries?
The Central Presbyterian Church in Newhall, Ia has hosted this event for many years as a local mission and outreach event at the local baseball field. In 2012 the prayer was for the opportunity to expand the event to reach out to more of God’s people and to those who do not yet know the wonderful and amazing power of God’s love. Church membership wanted to support and help make the event happen but decided that it would be best to do it as a participant rather than the main organizer and sponsor. After much prayerful consideration, members of the church Wendy Refstie, Kim Keiper, Lay Pastor Jon Wilson, Cathy Povlick, and Bobby Colquhoun who had participated as an evangelist and performer in past Praise In The Park events, decided to volunteer their time and form a Not For Profit group that would host this event and be mission focused. Praise In The Park is a wonderful ministry event used by many churches in many areas and so to avoid confusion (and adhere to federal and state laws) a name was chosen that expresses our gratitude for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the amazing Grace of God. As we follow God’s call and mission our small group continues to be blessed by talented and faithful volunteers who are coming together to help build God’s Kingdom on Earth. Please see our volunteer list to see the current make-up of the Freed From Sin Ministries not for profit board and the volunteers that have felt a calling to help in this ministry event. God blesses, gifts, and enables His people with joy, generosity and peace – and our cup is overflowing!
